Since 1936, the mission of the Long Beach Township Beach Patrol has been to provide the highest level of qualified lifeguards to educate, patrol, and protect the public and beach environment for Long Beach Township’s 12 miles of ocean beach.

The Long Beach Island Health Department is the branch of local government responsible for protecting and promoting the health of the residents of Surf City, Long Beach Township, Beach Haven, Harvey Cedars, Ship Bottom and Barnegat Light

In 2017, the Township acquired a waterfront parcel in Holgate on Osborn Avenue. The vision was to create a space as a clearinghouse for information exchange and a think tank reflecting our maritime culture and current day challenges and opportunities. The township Department of Public Works constructed the facility and township staff has brought it to life.

The mission of the Long Beach Township police department is to build strong, trusting relationships within our community while ensuring the safety and security of all residents and visitors alike.
