Long Beach Township is currently exploring opportunities for flood reduction and resilient, ecological shorelines. This project evolved out of the Resilient LBI Action Plan and is funded by a grant from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation. The Township is working with a team of research and design partners to study and design a project that enhances back bay habitat while reducing high tide flooding on Long Beach Boulevard which will reduce the frequency of disruptions to the Long Beach Township Department of Public Works (DPW) critical facility.
This project is one part of a group of projects the Township is or has implemented to improve resilience for its residents. The design team is currently collecting data and analyzing existing conditions. Illustrative planning approach diagrams are provided showing potential design strategies and do not represent a proposed design. A conceptual design is anticipated to be available for viewing at Long Beach Field Station in Spring 2026.
