Fire Hydrant Flushing

The Long Beach Township Water Department will conduct its annual flushing of the distribution system from March 7, 2011 until the end of May 2011. A temporary slight discoloration of the water and a decrease of pressure may be noted as a result of the opening of fire hydrants. This discoloration is not harmful and will clear up if you let your water run for a short time.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but by flushing the system we improve the quality of the water delivered to our customers. Customers are also encouraged to check for discolored water before doing laundry or washing dishes. We thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Water Restriction Guidelines - In Effect June 1 - September 30
Through our continuing effort to conserve water, Long Beach Township allows residential and commercial watering only according to alternating odd/even address numbers and calendar days:

Addresses with EVEN numbers may irrigate on EVEN calendar days, as needed.

Addresses with ODD numbers may irrigate on ODD calendar days, as needed.

Automatic sprinkling systems shall be operated only between 5:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. every other day.

Handheld hoses must be ¾" diameter or less and can be used between 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 a.m. according to the odd/even schedule.

No watering during rain.

Limit excessive watering so as not to cause run off into streets and driveway aprons; however, food establishments shall be permitted to wash down sidewalks, decks, garage aprons and the like.

Emergency conditions may warrant additional restrictions.

The above water conservation restrictions are enforced by Municipal Ordinance No. 10-44c as mandated by the State of New Jersey.
